QTube circuits have been an all round success for us. To check the patency of the bi lumen membrane as it is enclosed… when using such a circuit, there is entrainment of CO2 through to the Inspiratory limb, therefore the CO2 trace doesn’t go to zero. If this is identified we replace the circuit.. it very rarely happens.

We use the 9m MRI QTube. Love it. We use it for kids MRI etc. and set ventilator to PSV-Pro,  low flows and turn off the sevo as the circuit contains plenty. We keep MAC around 0.6-0.7 as they just need to be asleep. Saves us heaps on Sevo as its turned off and not high flows through a T-piece

The bi-lumen circuit is ideal for our head, neck and eye surgeries, it’s available in a number of different lengths so we can use the one supplier. The QGuard Anti microbial has cut down on costs by saving the equivalent of up to 5.5 circuits/unit, in addition to the capnography tubing as these are in-built into the circuit. Also, we have seen the reduction in on site storage needs and reduced waste management from 1 circuit per week vs. up to 7 per week which is awesome."
